Johnny Appleseed Day

We all had a great time yesterday meeting Johnny Appleseed!  He (she) showed us how to find a star inside an apple and read us a neat story about the house with no door, no windows and a star inside.  Ask your son or daughter where we found that!  Here are some pictures of our visit with Johnny!

Johnny Appleseed Week!

This Friday, September 26th is Johnny Appleseed Day!  If possible, bring in an apple tomorrow if you haven't already.  This makes for a fun project.

Week Four - Ready for More!

With another short week on our hands, you can be sure we'll be hard at work in First Grade.  Here is a copy of this week's newsletter to keep you informed of what's going on in our little corner of the building.

"Zero the Hero" visits First Grade!

On the tenth day of school, we had a special visitor!  "Zero the Hero" made a surprise visit to show us what happens (in regards to place value) when 9 becomes 10!   She was a big hit!  Here's a small recap:

Fee, Fum, Fo, Fi - two weeks of school have passed us by!

Last week, we read a Fiction story a couple of times with a certain character who repeats the phrase, "Fee, Fum, Fo, Fi … "  Ask them to tell you about it!

Also - if you have not paid your class fees yet, now is a good time to do so.  We need these funds so we can prepare for field trips, class craft projects, extra supplies, and so on.   A check made out to Perrine Elementary for $25 is the easiest way to do this.

We LOVE Being First!

Welcome first graders and parents to a great new school year!  We had the pleasure of meeting your little people today and had a great time getting to know them.  Ask your son or daughter if they washed away any jitters today with some magical juice…  

Here is a copy of the First Grade Flash that was sent home with today's purple folders. 

Your first homework packet is due this week on Thursday (remember, no school on Friday).  You may also turn it in on Tuesday, the 2nd of September, if you choose.
